Not "My Gym"
I recently signed my 2year 5 month old son up for an art class at My Gym. His good friend's Mother told me about it because she had signed her daughter up for the class and since our children play so well together she thought they would enjoy taking the class together. So we attended our first class which consisted of my son and three other children. My son was very hyper, he hadn't seen his friend in over a week so he was really excited to see her. I'll admit he wasn't paying close attention when he got there. Before class started the instructor told a little story with puppets to help explain the lesson. Then she explained what kind of art project they would be doing (making birds by putting paint on their hands and then putting their hands on a sheet of paper). My son is very anal about being dirty and he didn't want to put the paint on his hands so I drew around his hands with a marker. He ended up not following the directions, but he's a 2 years old. So than the teacher gave the kids play dough. Well my son threw the play dough plastic container across the small table and almost (but didn't) hit the child sitting across from him. That child's Mother said "he almost hit my son in the eye." I said "I'm sorry."
Before the next class the owner of the My Gym called me and told me that my son could attend the gym class. I explained to her that I planned to let my son try the art class one more time and access how he did after and if he didn't like it I would consider changing him to the gym class. She told me the gym class would be better for him because it was more structured. I asked so are you telling me that I can't bring him back to the art class. She responded by saying it would behoove him to go to the gym class. So My Gym gave my 2 year old son one opportunity to meet their expectations and than they kicked him out of the art class. Not very fair. And on top of that the owner insisted on beating around the bush telling me what was going on and basically made me guess what she was really trying to say. I am currently looking elsewhere for an activity for my son to get involved with. I will not go back to My Gym and I will not recommend anyone else go there either.
